Board of Supervisors

The code of Virginia provides that each county be governed by a board of supervisors, which is elected by qualified voters. Russell County board of supervisors is composed of six board members. They are elected by the voters and serve a four year term. The board is the legislative policy making body for the county. It considers and adopts policies regarding administration, budget, finance, economic development, health, planning, public safety, recreation, sanitation and waste removal. The Board appropriates funds for all functions, including schools and operation of courts. Russell County board of supervisors meet first Monday of every month (unless otherwise posted) at 6 pm at the Board of Supervisors meeting room which is located at Russell County Government Center.
